International Students
At Linden Park Schools we have a group of full fee paying International Students who are in Australia to learn English and immerse themselves in the Australian culture.
These students are enrolled in the school for varying periods of time. While they are here, they work both within the mainstream classes and the IPEC (Intensive Primary English Course) Unit. A Specialist ESL teacher and a Bilingual School Support Officer (BSSO) support this programme, which provides intensive English support and pastoral care for students and their families.
We welcome these students to our schools and we feel very fortunate to have this programme.
Linden Park Schools, as an Authorised International Baccalaureate World Schools, support, value and develop the concept of international mindedness within the school community. We value and celebrate the diversity within our schools and acknowledge the ways in which this diversity enriches our school community.
The International Students provide all our students with valuable opportunities to develop their role as global citizens as they form friendships and help to support and mentor the new students as they adjust to life in Australia.
They are forming a respect and value of diversity. They are also developing knowledge and understanding of other cultures and other languages through authentic interactions. They are forming a positive regard for the rights and identities of others and discovering similarities and differences between cultures. The students are developing the attitudes and values which characterise an internationalist; empathy, tolerance and open-mindedness.
