The school enters teams in the SA Junior Chess League. Chess is held during terms 2 and 3 and is played after school on Friday afternoons at venues including Prince Alfred College, Unley Primary School and St Ignatius College Junior School.
Games are played between 4pm and 4.30pm on a fortnightly basis. There are 7 rounds. Players are expected to commit to the full season to honour their commitment to their team. There are NO REFUNDS for players who drop out during the season.

Other outside school hours chess competitions including Rookies Tournaments, Interschool Chess Championships, City of Adelaide Junior Championships and State underage Championships are available to be entered.

ICAS and Australian Mathematics Competitions –
Students from Year 5 to Year 7 are able to participate in a range of competitions, providing the opportunity for students to gain a measure of their own achievements in an external assessment situation. All students receive a certificate and an individual results letter indicating which questions they answered correctly, as well as the average mark for their state. Certificates are awarded for each Year Level as follows: High Distinction to the top 1% Distinction to the next 10% Credit to the next 25% Merit or Participation to all remaining entrants. Linden Park offers ICAS Science, English and Mathematics in 2020. Detailed information regarding registration and sitting dates will be made via the Skoolbag app.

The Australian Mathematics Trust conducts the Australian Mathematics Competition for students in Years 3 to 7. This is a competition event and will be held on 30th July 2020. Details to register will be advised via Skoolbag app.

Year 6 and Year 7 students are able to sign up for debating as part of the South Australian Debating Association (SADA) schools competition in Term 1. Debates are held on Tuesday nights during Terms 2 & 3 at Pulteney Grammar School and students meet up during lunch times to organise and prepare for their debates. Students in years Years 4-7 are able to audition for places within our LPPS Aerobic in Term 4 2019 to compete in the Australian Schoolaerobics competition in 2020.
